After missing over a year of wiffle action due to the birth of his daughter, Mike made his first start on the mound in 2015 for Questionable Outfit, and it was dominant. He allowed only four hits in a complete game shutout, as no Ham Slams base runner advanced past second base.
With four innings of eligibility left in week 1, Charlie made his second start of the week pitching for the Ham Slams. His first inning was quiet, as he retired the seise in order. Mike matched him in the bottom half of the inning, and the game was scoreless through one.
The wheels fell off for the Ham Slams in the top of the second, as Questionable had a huge inning and built an insurmountable lead with a barrage of hits. Kimble led off the inning with a double and moved to third when Mike followed with a double. Reilly then tripled, scoring both runners and putting Questionable ahead 2-0. Bob followed with a single, scoring Reilly to make the score 3-0. Charlie retired Kimble for the first out of the inning, but Mike followed with an RBI triple, and the score was 4-0. Reilly, Bob, and Kimble hit three consecutive doubles, after which Charlie retired Mike for the second out of the inning, but Questionable had jumped out to a 7-0 lead.
Mike retired the side in order in the bottom of the second, and Questionable would continue to pound the Ham Slams in the top of the third. Reilly led off with a single and moved to third when Bob grounded out for the first out of the inning. Kimble then hit an RBI single, making the score 8-0. Mike followed with a single, and with runners on first and second, Reilly hit a three-run blast, his first of the year, making the score 11-0.
Mike continued to dominate in the bottom of the third, maintaining the 11-0 lead. The Ham Slams would manage three more hits throughout the game, two singles and a double, but never threatened. The Ham Slams replaced Charlie with Josh, who was much more effective than in his appearance in the first game of week 1, but to no avail. Questionable Outfit’s lead was too large, and they held on to win.
Questionable moved to 2-0 on the season, while the Ham Slams dropped to 0-2.
