Behind Tim’s strong pitching performance and solid fielding, the Ham Slams lead for five innings and held Questionable Outfit’s bats in check. But in the bottom of the fifth, as they often do, the Questionable bats exploded, and four runs later Questionable had a three-run lead that they held on to, winning 6-3.

Nate took the mound for Questionable Outfit, and he started well, retiring Josh and Dan in order in the top of the first. Tim made the start for the Ham Slams, and he matched Nate in the bottom half of the inning, retiring Bob and Mike consecutively.

Adam, making his first appearance of the 2016 season, singled with one out in the top of the second, but Nate stranded him, retiring Josh to end the inning. Tim continued to roll in the bottom of the second, retiring the side in order, and the score was tied at 0-0 through two innings.

The Ham Slams would get to Nate in the top of the third, taking an early lead. Dan singled, and he scored from first when Tim followed with an RBI triple to make the score 1-0. Adam then hit an RBI double to score Tim, and the Ham Slams lead 2-0. Two batters later, Dan hit a one-out RBI single, scoring Adam, pushing the Ham Slams lead to 3-0. Tim then singled, and just when it looked like the Slams would blow it open, Nate buckled down and retired Adam, ending the inning and stranding two runners.

Down three, Questionable bounced back in the bottom of the third and cut into the Ham Slams lead. Bob led off with a double and moved to third on a Mike single. Nate then grounded out to left for the first out of the inning, but Bob scored on the play, cutting the Slams lead to 3-1. Tom followed with an RBI triple, scoring Mike, and the score was 3-2. The tying run was on third, but Bob couldn’t capitalize, as Tim retired him to end the inning and maintain a one-run lead.

In the top of the fourth, Dan hit a one-out double, but he was caught in between bases trying to extend the hit into a triple, ending the inning. Tim cruised through the bottom of the fourth, retiring the side in order.

In what seemed like a deja vu, Tim led off the top of the fifth with double, but like Dan in the previous inning, he was caught in between second and third trying to extend the hit into a triple, and was retired for the first out of the inning. Nate then got Adam to groundout to left for the second out.

Down 3-2, Questionable had only managed three hits through four innings, but they rallied in a big way in the bottom of the fifth. Tom led off the inning with a solo blast to left, tying the game at 3-3. Bob followed with a triple, and Mike drove him in with a two-run homer to center, and Questionable had taken their first lead of the game at 5-3. Two batters later, Tom crushed his second solo homer of the inning, and Questionable had opened up a 6-3 lead. Bob followed with a single, but when the next batter, Mike, also singled, Bob was caught in between bases for the second out, ending the rally.

After leading through five, the Ham Slams found themselves trailing by three runs heading into their final at-bat in the top of the sixth. Nate remained on the mound, and he shut down the Slams quickly. Josh and Dan were retired in order to end the inning and the game, giving Questionable Outfit a 6-3 win.

The win moved Questionable to 3-1 on the season, and the loss dropped the Ham Slams to 1-3.
