Guac Boys Rally Late to Drop Cheap Goats 6-5

Alec pitched the complete game win for the Guac Boys, and his two-run homer in the top of the fifth put the Guac Boys ahead for good

Cheap Goats led the Guac Boys and allowed only one run on two hits over the first four innings of their week 5 matchup before all five Guac Boys reached base and scored in the top of the fifth, completing a rally that earned them a 6-5 victory. Bohn went deep twice, and Alec had two extra-base hits, the go-ahead two-run homer, and earned the win on the mound as the Guac Boys maintained their second place position in the standings.

Christian took the mound for Cheap Goats, and he retired Alec and Brum in order in the top of the first.

Alec started for the Guac Boys, and he got into trouble early. Joey led off the game with a double, and after Alec fanned Miller for the first out of the inning, he allowed a two-run homer to Christian, giving Cheap Goats a 2-0 lead. Dinger followed with a double, but Alec stranded him, retiring Joey to end the inning.

Christian rolled through the bottom of the second, retiring Bohn and Jan consecutively, and the score remained 2-0.

Alec got the Guac Boys first hit of the game with a one-out triple in the top of the third, but Christian avoided damage, retiring Brum to strand the runner, ending the inning with the score 2-0.

Cheap Goats extended their lead in the bottom of the third. Joey led off the inning with a triple, and Miller followed with an RBI triple to score him, putting Cheap Goats ahead 3-0. Christian then singled, scoring Miller, and the lead was 4-0. Alec retired Dinger and Joey to strand Christian at first, ending the inning, and the Guac Boys trailed by four.

Bohn put the Guac Boys on the board when he led off the top of the fourth with a solo homer, cutting the score to 4-1. Christian retired the next two batters, Jan and Form, to end the inning.

Miller doubled to start the bottom of the fourth, but Alec stranded him, retiring Christian and Dinger to end the inning.

The Guac Boys had scored only a single run on two hits through four innings, but their offense opened up in the top of the fifth. Christian retired Alec for the first out of the inning, and then the Guac Boys rallied. Brum doubled, and Bohn drove him in with his second homer of the game, a two-run blast that narrowed the Cheap Goats lead to 4-3. Jan doubled, and Form drove him in with an RBI double, tying the game at 4-4. Alec put the Guac Boys in front for their first lead of the game when he hit a two-run homer, making the score 6-4. Christian retired Brum to end the inning, and the Guac Boys had taken a two-run lead.

Joey led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo homer, making the score 6-5. Two batters later, Christian hit a one-out single, but Cheap Goats couldn’t plate him. Alec retired Dinger to strand the runner at first, maintaining a one-run lead.

Christian struck out Bohn and retired Jan in the top of the sixth, and Cheap Goats trailed by a run heading into their final at-bat.

Joey doubled to start the bottom of the sixth, putting the tying run in scoring position with no outs. Alec cracked down, however, retiring Miller and Christian in order to strand Joey at second, ending the inning and the game, and giving the Guac Boys a 6-5 comeback victory.

Tom’s Career Game Carries Shady Characters to 13-9 Victory Over Jack Shack

Tom had the best game of his EWL career, going 7-for-7 with six extra-base hits, hitting for the cycle, and earning the win on the mound as he led Shady Characters to a 13-9 win over Jack Shack. Tom collected two doubles, a triple, three homers, and drove in eight of Shady Characters’ runs, and Lucas went deep three times as two-time defending champions Shady Characters extended their lead atop the league standings.

Jon started on the mound for Jack Shack, and Shady Characters blew him up in the first inning. Jon allowed a leadoff single to Nate, got Mike to fly out to left for the first out of the inning, and then the wheels fell off. Tom drove in Nate with a two-run homer, putting Shady Characters in front 2-0. Lucas followed with a solo shot, and the back-to-back homers gave Shady Characters a 3-0 lead. Nate and Mike each singled, putting runners on the corners with one out. Tom unloaded on the ball and cleared the bases, blasting a three-run homer to extend the Shady Characters lead to 6-0. Lucas homered again, and the second round of back-to-back homers between Tom and Lucas in the first inning made the score 7-0. Nate followed with a solo homer, and the back-to-back-to-back jacks dropped Jack Shack into an 8-0 hole. Mike singled, and he scored from first when Tom followed with an RBI single, giving Shady Characters a 9-0 advantage. Lucas then singled, putting runners on the corners once again, but Jon finally escaped the disastrous opening inning by retiring Nate for the second out. Shady Characters had reached base on ten consecutive at-bats and scored eight runs with one out to take a nine-run lead after half an inning.

Ryan started the bottom of the first by hitting a leadoff homer, making the score 9-1. Jon doubled, and he moved to third when Chris followed with a single. Jack Shack had runners on the corners with no outs, and it looked as if they would rally, but Tom buckled down. He retired Ader, filling him for a depleted Jack Shack roster, and Ryan, stranding two runners and ending the inning.

Tom tripled with one out in the top of the second, but Jon avoided further damage, retiring Lucas to strand the runner at third, ending the inning with the score 9-1.

Jack Shack narrowed the deficit further in the bottom of the second. Chris hit a one-out single, and Ader drove him in with a two-run homer to right, cutting the score to 9-3. Ryan followed with a double, but Tom stranded him, retiring Jon to end the inning, and Shady Characters led by six runs.

Jon struck out Nate to start the top of the third and then retired Mike to end the inning.

Jack Shack continued to chip away at the Shady Characters lead in the bottom of the third. With one out, Ader his his second home run in as many at-bats, a solo shot that made the score 9-4. Tom then retired Ryan to end the inning.

Tom doubled to leadoff the top of the fourth, completing the cycle for the second time in his wiffle career. Lucas followed with a two-run homer, his third home run of the game, and Shady Characters led 11-4. Jon then fanned Nate and retired Mike to end the inning.

Jon singled to start the bottom of the fourth, and he moved from first to third when Chris followed with a double. Tom got Ader to ground out to center for the first out of the inning, and Jon scored on the play to cut the Shady Characters lead to 11-5. Ryan then singled, scoring Chris, and the score was 11-6. Tom retired Jon to strand Ryan at first, ending the inning, and Jack Shack were behind by five runs.

Tom doubled to lead off the top of the fifth, but Jon stranded him, retiring Lucas and Nate, and the score remained 11-6.

Jack Shack kept fighting back in the bottom of the fifth. Ader hit a one-out triple, and Ryan drove him in with an RBI double, cutting the score to 11-7. Jon then doubled, scoring Ryan, and Jack Shack had reduced the Shady Characters lead to 11-8. Tom retired Chris to strand Jon at second, and Jack Shack trailed by three runs heading into the sixth.

Shady Characters picked up a few insurance runs in the top of the sixth. Mike singled, and Tom hit his third round-tripper of the game, a two-run show that put his squad ahead 13-8. Jon retired the next two batters, Lucas and Nate, to end the inning, and Jack Shack were down five runs.

Ader led off the bottom of the sixth with his third homer of the game, a solo blast that made the score 13-9. The Jack Shack rally would end there, however, as Tom retired Ryan and Jon to end the inning and the game, giving Shady Characters a 13-9 victory.

The win moved Shady Characters to 7-2 on the year, and Jack Shack dropped to 3-6.

Jason of Shady Characters Named Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week

Jason tied the single-game record for home runs, becoming only the fifth player in league history to hit five homers in a game, and led Shady Characters to two wins en route to being voted Wiffler of the Week for week 4 of the 2023 season.

In a 12-8 win over Jack Shack, Jason went 5-for-6, homering in his first five at-bats to tie the EWL record, and he drove in seven runs.

In an 11-10 win over Cheap Goats, he went 4-for-5 with a single, a double, two homers, three runs scored, and four RBI.

In total, Jason went 9-for-11 with a single, a double, seven home runs, eight runs scored, and eleven RBI in week 4.

This is the fifth time Jason has been voted Wiffler of the Week in his wiffle career. He was voted Wiffler of the Week twice in the 2021 and 2022 seasons, and was last voted Wiffler of the Week for the final week of the 2022 regular season.

Jon Leads Jack Shack to Hard Fought 9-8 Win Over Guac Boys

Jon scored four of Jack Shack’s nine runs, homered in his first three at-bats, and pitched a complete game win in a back-and-forth 9-8 win over the Guac Boys

Jack Shack overcame huge games from Jan and Bohn as Jon went 4-for-5 with a double, three home runs, and five RBI to lead his team to a 9-8 win over the Guac Boys. Brian and Ryan also contributed three hits a piece as Jack Shack outlasted the Guac Boys in a game that was back-and-forth from start to finish.

Jon started on the mound for Jack Shack, and he allowed a leadoff single to the first batter he faced, Jan. Bohn followed with a two-run blast to right, and the Guac Boys immediately led 2-0. Two batters later, Kyle hit a one-out double, but Jon stranded him, retiring Jan to end the inning.

Jack Shack bounced back in the bottom of the first, taking the lead. Bohn started for the Guac Boys, and after allowing a leadoff single to Ryan, he struck out Josh for the first out of the inning. Jon followed with a two-run homer, tying the game at 2-2. Brian doubled, and Ryan drove him in with a two-run shot, putting Jack Shack ahead 4-2. Bohn then retired Josh for the second out of the inning, and Jack Shack led by two runs.

The Guac Boys punched back in the top of the second. Bohn led off the inning with his second homer of the game, a solo shot that cut the score to 4-3. Jude singled, and two batters later, Jan hit a one-out double to score him, tying the game at 4-4. Bohn followed with his third homer in as many at-bats, a two-run bomb that put Guac Boys ahead 6-4. Jon finally escaped the inning by striking out Jude for the second out, and Jack Shack once again trailed by two.

Jon led off the bottom of the second with a solo shot, providing his own run support and cutting the score to 6-5. Bohn retired Brian and Ryan to end the inning, and Guac Boys led by a run.

Guac Boys responded yet again in the top of the fourth. Kyle hit a one-out single, and Jan followed with a two-run blast, giving Guac Boys an 8-7 lead. Bohn singled, but Jon stranded him, retiring Jude to end the inning.

The slugfest continued in the bottom of the fourth, and Jack Shack came back firing again. Jon led off the inning with a double, and he moved to third when Brian singled, putting runners on the corners with no outs. Ryan doubled, scoring Jon and tying the game at 8-8. Bohn got Josh to ground out to right for the first out of the inning, but Brian scored on the play, putting Jack Shack back in front 9-8. Bohn retired Jon to end the inning, and Guac Boys once again trailed by a run.

Christian Swats Career-High Four Home Runs to Power Cheap Goats Past Guac Boys 11-5

It is possible that no player in league history has made a leap like Christian has in 2023, and his monster season continued in week 4 when he crushed four bombs, going 6-for-6 against the Guac Boys, leading Cheap Goats to an 11-5 victory. Joey went deep twice, and Dinger contributed three hits in addition to picking up the win on the mound as Cheap Goats improved to .500 on the season and pulled closer to Guac Boys in the EWL standings.

Kyle made his season debut for the Guac Boys and took the mound, retiring Joey and Miller in order in the top of the first.

Christian started for Cheap Goats, and he matched Kyle in the bottom of the first, retiring Jan and Bohn consecutively.

Christian provided his own run support in the top of the second, leading off the inning with a solo homer, making the score 1-0. Two batters later Joey hit a one-out single, and he scored when Miller followed with an RBI double, extending the Cheap Goats lead to 2-0. Christian followed with a single, but Miller was thrown out trying to score on the play, ending the inning.

Christian once again cruised in the bottom of the second, retiring Jude and Kyle, and the score remained 2-0.

Dinger led off the top of the third with a double, but Kyle stranded him, retiring Joey and Miller.

Cheap Goats exploded in the top of the fifth, opening up a big lead. Kyle retired Miller to start the inning, but Christian followed with a one-out double. Dinger hit an RBI triple, scoring Christian, and Cheap Goats led 4-3. Joey followed with a two-run bomb, extending the lead to 6-3. Miller tripled, and Christian followed with his third homer of the game, a two-run blast that put Cheap Goats in front 8-3. Dinger then singled, and he scored from first when Joey followed with an RBI single, making the score 9-3. Kyle retired Miller for the second out of the inning, stranding Joey, but Cheap Goats had scored six runs in the inning and had taken a commanding lead.

Dinger retired Bohn to start the inning, and Jude followed with a one-out single. Kyle hit his second two-run homer of the game, and Guac Boys trailed 9-5. Dinger then retired Jan to end the inning.

Cheap Goats made up the two runs in the top of the sixth. Christian led off the inning and crushed a titanic bomb to right field, his career-high fourth homer of the game, giving Cheap Goats a 10-5 lead. Two batters later, with one out, Joey hit his second homer of the game, a solo shot, and Cheap Goats led 11-5. Kyle retired Miller for the second out of the inning, and Guac Boys trailed by six heading into their final at-bat.

Dinger remained on the mound to close things out for Cheap Goats, and he made quick work in the bottom half of the inning. He retired Bohn and Jude in order, ending the inning and the game, and giving Cheap Goats an 11-5 victory.

The win moved Cheap Goats to 4-4 on the season, and the loss dropped the Guac Boys to 3-4.
