Vassallo Explodes for Three Bombs Leading Fish Sticks to 5-0 Win over Caucasians

Joey pitched a five hit shutout and Vassallo went 4-4 as the Fish Sticks topped the Vaginas 5-0, snapping a four game losing streak.

With Joey on the mound for the Gay Fish, Les and Morrison of the Caucasian Vaginas were retired in order in the top of the first. Les made the start for the Vaginas, and Joey led off the bottom of the first by flying out to left. Blose singled for the first hit of the game, but was stranded when Les retired Dinger ending the first.

Frosty led off the top of the second with a groundout to left, but Les got the Vaginas first hit by doubling to deep center field. However, he was left standing at second when Morrison grounded out to end the inning.

With the score tied at zero, Vassallo led off the bottom of the second with a solo homer making the score 1-0. Les minimized the damage by retiring Joey and Blose to end the second inning.

Joey retired Frosty and Les in order in the top of the third and the Fish Sticks got the bats out again in the bottom half of the inning, as Dinger led off with a single. Vassallo followed with a two run blast to left field, his second consecutive home run, extending the Fish Sticks lead to 3-0. For the second consecutive inning, Les prevented further damage by retiring Joey and Blose to end the third inning.

Morrison and Frosty were retired in order to keep the score 3-0 after three and a half innings, and Les got into a jam again in the bottom of the fourth. He gave up consecutive singles to Dinger and Vassallo putting runners at first and second with no outs. But for the third straight inning, he retired Joey and Blose, each stranding two runners, and the score remained 3-0.

Les led off the fifth with a single, and Morrison followed with another single to put runners on first and second. With no outs, Frosty grounded out to Blose, and as Les ran from second to third, he rounded third too hard, and was caught off the base with the ball at the mound, resulting in a double play to end the inning.

Up three runs, Dinger grounded out for the Fish Sticks to start the bottom of the fifth, but Vassallo followed with another solo homer, his third in the game and fourth hit in as many at-bats, extending the lead to 4-0. With one out and no runners on, Joey took Les deep to make back-to-back home runs, and pushing the score to 5-0. Les then retired Blose to end the fifth.

Down five runs and at their last at-bat, the Vaginas rallied. Les led off the inning with a single, but took a spill rounding first and fell hard to the pavement, cutting his hands, arms and legs. It was the most violent spill of the season so far. He brushed himself off though, and advanced to second on a Morrison single. With no outs, Frosty grounded out to left, but put two runners in scoring position for Les. But after a long at-bat with many foul balls, Les struck out to end the game, resulting in a 5-0 shutout for the Fish Sticks.

Pumice on Slow! Shutout 3-0 as Dentists Win Third Straight

Chris of 4 out of 5 Dentists lunges for a flyball as Pumice's Brad runs the basepaths

Chris pitched the EWL’s first shutout in history, blanking Pumice on Slow! 3-0.

The Dentists retired Brad to start the top of the first, and after a Luke single, Chris retired Gaurav for the second out of the inning. Pumice on Slow! started Brad on the mound, and he retired the side in order in the top of the first as the score was 0-0 after one inning.

Chris retired the Pumice side in order in the top of the second, and Brad did the same in the bottom of the second, as neither team had scored through two.

Pumice was again retired in order in the top of the third, and Brad retired both of the Dentists’ batters in the bottom of the third, remaining perfect through three innings.

John doubled to start the top of the fourth for Pumice on Slow!, but after advancing to third on a Brad groundout, Chris stranded him at third by getting Luke to fly out to left field.

Brad retired Chris to start the bottom of the fourth, but his perfect game was thwarted when Spads doubled with one out. However, the Dentists couldn’t plate a runner as Mike Marr grounded out to end the inning with the score still tied at zero.

Gaurav grounded out to start the fifth for Pumice, and Chris fanned John for the second out of the inning.

Ron got the Dentists’ second hit of the game, leading off the bottom of the fifth with a single. Chris followed with a double, putting runners on second and third with no outs. Braydn capitalized, hitting a single which scored Ron from third, making the score 1-0. With runners on the corners, Mike Marr singled to drive in another run, and Ron followed with yet another single, scoring the third run of the inning. Brad then settled down, retiring Chris and Braydn to end the inning with the score 3-0.

Down three, Brad led off the top of the sixth with a single. He was tagged out on a fielder’s choice by Luke, and Chris ended the game by retiring Gaurav, stranding Luke on first and giving the Dentists a 3-0 victory.

Ron Carries 4 out of 5 Dentists past Fish Sticks with Arm and Bat

Ron yielded only a single run in a 2-1 Dentists victory

4 out of 5 Dentists scored only two runs, but both came from Ron homers as he also shut down the Fish Sticks offense in a 2-1 win.

In an effort to snap a losing streak, the Fish Sticks switched their lineup, batting Blose leadoff in hopes to get the offense started. Ron, however, retired him to start the game, and after giving up a single to Vassallo, retired Joey to end the top of the first without giving up a run.

Dinger started for the Fish Sticks, and retired Braydn for the first out of the inning. But Ron followed with a solo home run, making the score 1-0. Chris was retired to end the first.

Ron retired Dinger to lead off the top of the second, but with one out, Blose hit a homer to right field, tying the game at one. The Fish Sticks couldn’t take the lead, as Vassallo grounded out to left field. Dinger maintained the tie in the bottom of the second, retiring Mike and Braydn in order.

Joey and Dinger were retired in order in the top of the third, and Ron reclaimed the Dentists lead when he hit another blast, his second solo home run of the game, moving the score to 2-1. Dinger quickly quieted the Dentists, howeve,r retiring Chris and Mike to end the third.

It looked as if the Gay Fish would rally in the top of the fourth, as Blose led off the inning with a triple. But Ron stranded Blose at third, retiring Vassallo and Joey and getting out of the inning unscathed.

Despite a lack of run support, Dinger fell into a groove starting in the fourth. He retired Chris and Mike in order, the first of six consecutive batters sent down. Dinger did not give up a hit in the fourth, fifth, or sixth innings.

The Dentists were shut down offensively, but the Fish Sticks couldn’t capitalize. Dinger led off the fifth with a single, but made a base running error on a Blose flyout, resulting in a double play to end the inning.

Joey doubled with one out in the top of the sixth, but was stranded at second when Ron retired Dinger to end the game, and give the Dentists a 2-1 win.

Game Notes:
– Dinger and the Fish Sticks set a record for fewest hits allowed in a game, giving up only two hits to the Dentists, yet still earned the loss

Frosty Pitches 3-hitter as Caucasians Beat Pumice on Slow! 6-1

Frosty takes a pitch from Gaurav in the Caucasians 6-1 win over Pumice

Frosty and the Caucasian Vaginas defense shut down Pumice on Slow! en route to a 6-1 win, snapping Pumice’s three game win streak.

Pumice came out of the gates slow, with Gaurav and Brad grounding out in order in the top of the first. The Caucasians, however, got their bats out early as Les and Morrison singled to start the game. Frosty grounded out to put two runners in scoring position, and Les doubled driving in a run, putting the Vaginas up 1-0 with one out. Morrison followed with a single, plating a second run, and after Frosty grounded out to end the first, the lead was 2-0.

Luke and John flew consecutively in the second, and Les led off the bottom of the second with a groundout for the Vaginas. But Morrison followed with a solo home run extending the score to 3-0. Frosty was unable to help his own cause, grounding out to end the second.

Pumice finally got on the board in the top of the third when Gaurav led off the inning with a blast to center, cutting the deficit to 3-1. They were unable to extend the rally, however, as Brad and Luke were both retired by groundout. Les grounded out to start the bottom of the third for the Caucasians, but after Morrison singled, he was stranded at first when Frosty was retired.

Down 3-1, John singled to lead off the fourth for Pumice, but couldn’t advance a base when Gaurav and Brad were sent down in order. The Caucasians added insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth, starting with back-to-back singles by Les and Morrison. Frosty again grounded out, but put two runners in scoring position for Les, who drove in both runs with a single. With the score 5-1, Morrison grounded out to end the inning.

Down four runs, Pumice couldn’t get the offense going, as Luke and John were retired in the top of the fifth. In the bottom half of the inning, Frosty got his first hit of the game, a solo home run to left, increasing the Vaginas lead to 6-1. Gaurav retired Les and Morrison, and the deficit was five runs heading into the final frame.

Gaurav got his second hit of the contest, a single, to start the sixth. But Pumice was unable to plate a run, as Brad and Luke each grounded out to left field, ending the game, and snapping Pumice on Slow!’s three game winning streak.

– Due to only playing with three players, Les drove himself in twice in this game
