Les had four hits as the Caucasians outlasted Pumice in 12

In what will go down as the longest game in EWL history, the Caucasian Vaginas rallied in the bottom of the 12 inning to defeat Pumice on Slow 2-1.

It was a game of attrition and a pitcher’s duel, as Frosty took to the mound starting his second game of the day for the Caucasians. He battled against Josh, who started for Pumice on Slow.

Both pitcher’s pitched scoreless first innings, and after Frosty shut down Pumice in the second, pitching his eighth and final inning of the day, the Vaginas got out of the gates first when Les hit his second home run of the day, a solo shot off Josh. The blast put the Vaginas up 1-0 through two innings.

Morrison relieved Frosty and held Pumice in check for the majority of his time on the mound. He gave up only three hits, and Pumice was unable to score off him for the first three innings he pitched. Josh also got into a groove though, as Caucasians couldn’t plate a run and the score remained 1-0 through five innings.

With their backs against the wall and having had six straight batters retired by Morrison, Pumice rallied in the top of the 6th down a run. John started the rally with a single. Luke grounded out, moving John to second, and with a runner in scoring position, Gaurav singled to left-center. The play at the plate was as close as they come, but John was ruled safe, tying the game at 1. Morrison retired the next batter, Josh, giving the Caucasians a chance to score a run and win in the bottom of the sixth.

Josh retired Jim to start the 6th, and Les followed with a double. But Josh got the red-hot Morrison to fly out to John and end the threat, sending the game to extra innings.

Both offenses continued their dry-spells in the extra frames. Pumice on Slow was retired in order in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings before getting a hit in the 10th. They were unable to advance Josh past first after he singled, however.

Frosty singled to lead off the bottom of the 7th for the Caucasians, but Pumice pitchers Josh, Gaurav, and John retired the next eight batters in order as the game extended into the 12th inning.

Morrison’s 3 Home Run Game Launches Caucasians Past Fish Sticks

6 May

Morrison hit 3 home runs in a win for the Caucasians

Nursing an Achilles injury, Morrison blasted three home runs as he led the Caucasian Vaginas to a 7-1 win over the Fish Sticks in the week 2 opener.

The Fish Sticks put their ace Dinger on the mound as the two undefeated teams took the field in the first game of the week. The Vaginas immediately opened up on Dinger, as newly acquired Jim and alternate captain Les got on base with singles in the top of the first. Then Morrison strode to the plate and crushed a mammoth blast to left to put the Caucasians up 3-0 early. Dinger then retired Frosty to end the inning.

With team captain Guthrie out for the week with a wedding (see Wifflecast), Frosty took the mound for the Caucasians. Frosty retired the first two Fish Sticks batters for a scoreless first.

The Caucasians picked up where they left off in the second inning, as Les knocked another single and scored on Morrison’s second bomb in as many at-bats, putting the Vaginas up 5-0 through two innings.

Frosty shut-down the Fish Sticks in the bottom of the second, and the Caucasians added an insurance run in the top of the third when Les hit his first home run of the season, extending the lead to 6-0.

The Fish Sticks finally got on the board with a solo blast from Vassallo to lead off the bottom of the third. Blose was stranded at second after hitting a double, and the Fish Sticks went into the 4th trailing 6-1.

After giving up a single to Frosty to start the 4th inning, Dinger got into a groove, retiring five of the next six batters. Unfortunately for the Fish Sticks, Frosty got into a groove on the mound for the Vaginas as well. After Vassallo’s home run in the third, Frosty yielded only two hits the rest of the game, as the Fish Sticks were unable to match their week 1 output. The Sticks managed only one run on five hits as Frosty notched the complete game win.

The Caucasians added one additional run when Morrison slammed his third homer of the day, a solo shot in the sixth. Frosty struck out Blose to end the game, giving the Vaginas a 7-1 win and moving them to 3-0 on the year.
