Tom’s Walk-Off Three-Run Homer Lifts Shady Characters to Surprising Game One Victory Over Guacamol-yay

Guacamol-yay was the better team for six and a half innings in game one of their best-of-five first round series, but Shady Characters hung around, stranded Guacamol-yay runners, and in the bottom of the seventh, walked off with a win when Tom hit a three-run bomb to end it. Despite getting out-hit eight to three heading into the bottom of the seventh, Shady Characters escaped game one with a win and took an early lead in the first round series.

Tom took the mound for Shady Characters, and he got out of trouble early and often. After allowing a leadoff double to Kyle, Jude hit a sacrifice fly, moving Kyle to third with one out. Tom stranded him, however, retiring Josh K to end the inning.

Josh K started for Guacamol-yay and he was in command. He retired Dylan and Mike in order in the bottom of the first.

Sean led off the top of the second with a single, but Tom retired the next two batters, Jan and Kyle, stranding him and ending the inning.

Josh K rolled through the bottom of the second, retiring Tom and Jason in order.

Guacamol-yay took the lead in the top of the third. Jude led off with a double, and Josh K drove him in with an RBI double, putting Guacamol-yay in front 1-0. The next batter, Sean, hit a single, putting runners on first and second with no outs. Tom got Jan to fly out for the first out of the inning, and when Kyle followed with a single, Josh K was pegged out at home, ending the inning, as Guacamol-yay managed to strand three runners in the inning.

Josh K once again cruised in the bottom of the third, sending Lucas and Dylan down consecutively.

Jude led off the top of the fourth with a single, but Tom stranded his sixth runner of the game so far, retiring Josh K and Sean to end the inning, and the score remained 1-0.

Josh K retired Mike and Tom in order, and he had retired the first eight batters of the game without allowing a baserunner.

Kyle singled with one out in the top of the fifth, but Guacamol-yay couldn’t add an insurance run. Tom retired Jude to strand Kyle at first, ending the inning.

Shady Characters broke up the no-hitter and tied the game in the bottom of the fifth. Lucas hit a one-out single, ending Josh K’s no-hit bit, which had made it nine hitters into the game. Dylan followed with an RBI triple, scoring Lucas, and the game was tied at 1-1. Josh K retired Mike to end the inning, stranding Dylan at third, and the game was even heading into the sixth.

After allowing at least one hit in each of the first five innings, Tom retired the side in order in the top of the sixth, sending Josh K and Sean down consecutively.

Jason doubled with one out in the bottom of the sixth, putting the winning run in scoring position. Josh K escaped, however, retiring Lucas to strand the runner, sending the game to extra-innings.

Tom continued to pitch effectively into the extra-innings, retiring Jan and Kyle in order in the top of the seventh.

Josh K remained on the mound for Guacamol-yay in the extra innings as well. He allowed a leadoff double to the first batter he faced, Dylan, putting the winning run in scoring position. Despite holding him hitless in his first three at-bats, MVP candidate Mike was intentionally walked, putting runners on first and second with outs. Tom came to the plate, and he launched a three-run homer to deep right-center field, and his walkoff shot ended the game, giving Shady Characters the 4-1 victory.

The win put Shady Characters ahead 1-0 in the best-of-five first round series with Guacamol-yay.

Jack Shack Destroy Indifferent Guacamol-yay in 12-0 One-Hitter

Guacamol-yay threw in the towel on the 2021 regular season as Brian and Adam combined to throw a one-hit shutout, and all four Jack Shack players had at least three hits apiece in a 12-0 beatdown. Josh D and Brian each had two doubls and two homers, Turbo had two doubles and a triple, and Adam had four hits including a double and a homer in the easy Jack Shack victory.

Brian started on the mound for Jack Shack, and he retired Ryan and Kyle in order in the top of the first.

Josh K started for Guacmol-yay and he was hit hard early. Adam led off the game with an inside-the-park homer fueled by a series of Guacamol-yay throwing errors. Two batters later, Turbo hit a one-out double, but he was caught trying to extend the hit into a triple, ending the inning.

Brian rolled through the top of the second, sending Josh K and Jude down consecutively.

Jack Shack opened up a big lead in the bottom of the second. Brian doubled, and Adam drove him in with an RBI single that made the score 2-0. Josh D followed with a two-run bomb to right, putting Jack Shack in front 4-0. Two batters later, Brian hit a one-out solo homer, giving Jack Shack a 5-0 lead. Josh K finally escaped the inning, getting Adam to fly out for the second out.

Brian once again retired the side in order in the top of the third.

Guacamol-yay turned to their bullpen in the bottom of the third, bringing Jan to the mound. He retired Josh D and Turbo in order, and the score remained 5-0.

Guacamol-yay registered their first hit of the game when Kyle led off the top of the fourth with a single. Unfortunately for them, it would be their only hit in the game, and Brian retired Josh K and Jude to strand Kyle at first, ending the inning.

Jack Shack blew the game open in the bottom of the fourth. Brian led off the inning with a solo homer, extending the Jack Shack lead to 6-0. Adam singled, and when the next batter, Josh D, doubled, Adam was caught out trying to score on the play, for the first out of the inning. Turbo followed with a one-out double, scoring Josh D, and Jack Shack led 7-0. Brian then doubled, scoring Turbo, and the lead was 8-0. Adam doubled, putting runners on second and third, and Josh D cleared the bases with his second double of the inning, making the score 10-0. Turbo then tripled, scoring Josh D, and Jack Shack had scored six runs to take an 11-0 lead. Jan finally got out of the inning by retiring Brian for the second out, and Guacamol-yay trailed by eleven.

Jack Shack brought Adam to the mound from the bullpen in the top of the fifth. He retired Jan and Ryan in order.

Jack Shack added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth when Josh D hit a one-out solo homer, making the score 12-0. Jan then retired Turbo to end the inning.

Guacamol-yay went quietly in the top of the sixth, as Adam closed things out by retiring Kyle and Josh K in order, giving Jack Shack a 12-0 victory.

Tom K Wins Pitcher’s Duel to Break Single-Season Record for Wins in 2-1 Shady Characters Victory over Guacamol-yay

Tom K came out victorious in a week 10 pitcher’s duel against Josh K and Guacamol-yay, delivering a 2-1 win for Shady Characters and breaking Josh K (and Reilly’s) single-season record for wins. Josh K won ten games in 2020, but a year later, Tom K broke the record, notching his eleventh win of the season after allowing only a single run on four hits against Guacamol-yay. Dylan was the only Shady Characters player with multiple hits, going 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored, and an RBI in the win.

Josh K started for Guacamol-yay, and he fell behind early. After allowing a leadoff double to Dylan, two batters later, Tom K hit a one-out double, scoring Dylan to give Shady Characters a 1-0 lead. Josh K then retired Lucas to end the inning.

Tom K rolled in the top of the first, retiring Ryan and Kyle in order.

Josh K retired Dylan to start the top of the second, before striking out Mike to end the inning.

Guacamol-yay evened things up in the bottom of the second. With one out, Jude launched a solo homer to right-center, trying the score at 1-1. Jan followed with a double, but Tom K stranded him, retiring Ryan to end the inning.

Shady Characters bounced back in the top of the third. Lucas doubled with one out, and Dylan drove him in with an RBI double, putting Shady Characters ahead 2-1. Josh K then retired Mike to end the inning.

Guacamol-yay turned to the bullpen in the top of the fifth, bringing Jude to the mound. He allowed a one-out single to Mike, but then struck out Tom K to strand the runner at first, ending the inning.

Guacamol-yay went down in order in the bottom of the fifth, as Ryan and Kyle were retired consecutively.

Shady Characters couldn’t add an insurance run in the top of the sixth, and Jude retired Lucas and Dylan in order.

Down 2-1, Guacamol-yay couldn’t rally in the bottom of the sixth. Tom K stayed on the mound to close things out, and after allowing a one-out single to Jude, he retired Jan to strand the tying run, ending the game and giving Shady Characters a 2-1 win.

The win moved Shady Characters to 13-6 on the season, and the loss dropped Guacamol-yay to 7-12.

Ryan Homers Twice as Guacamol-yay Beat Jack Shack 6-3

Ryan went 3-for-4 with a triple and two homers as Guacamol-yay defeated Jack Shack 6-3. Kyle homered and drove in two runs, Josh K contributed three hits, and Josh and Jude combined to hold Jack Shack to only three runs, stranding four Jack Shack runners.

Jack Shack started strong in the top of the first. The first batter of the game, Adam, hit a leadoff homer, giving Jack Shack a 1-0 lead. Guacamol-yay’s starter, Josh K, retired Brian, but then allowed a one-out triple to Josh D. Turbo followed with a single, scoring Josh, and Jack Shack led 2-0. Doc followed with a single, putting runners on first and third with one out. Josh K avoided further damage, however, retiring Adam to strand both runners, ending the inning.

Guacamol-yay responded in the bottom of the first. Ryan led off the game with a solo homer, as both teams had leadoff homers, and the score was 2-1. Two batters later, Josh K doubled off Jack Shack’s starter, Brian. But Brian stranded the runner, retiring Jude to end the inning.

Josh K rolled through the top of the second, retiring Brian and Josh D consecutively.

Guacamol-yay pulled ahead in the bottom of the second. Ryan tripled with one out, and Kyle drove him in with a two-run shot to right, giving Guacamol-yay a 3-2 lead. Brian then retired Josh K to end the inning.

Josh K had reached his innings limit for the week, so they brought Jude to the mound. He allowed a one-out single to Doc in the top of the third, but retired Adam to strand him, ending the inning.

Brian had also reached his innings limit for Jack Shack, so Doc took over from the bullpen. He retired the first two batters he faced, Jude and Jan, and the score remained 3-2 Guacamol-yay after three innings.

Jude retired Jack Shack in order in the top of the fourth, sending Brian and Josh D down.

Guacamol-yay added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth. Kyle singled with one out, and he moved to second when Josh K followed with a single. Jude also singled, scoring Kyle, and Guacamol-yay led 4-2. Guacamol-yay had two runners on with one out, but Doc escaped the inning, retiring Jan to strand both runners.

Jack Shack cut into the deficit in the top of the fifth. With one out, Doc hit a solo homer to right-center, narrowing the score to 4-3. Jude then retired Adam to end the inning.

Guacamol-yay made up the runs in the bottom of the fifth. Ryan led off the inning with a solo homer, making the score 5-3. Two batters later, Josh K hit a one-out double, and Jude drove him in with an RBI single, putting Guacamol-yay in front 6-3. Doc then retired Jan to end the inning.

Brian singled to lead off the top of the sixth, but Jack Shack couldn’t rally. Jude retired Josh D and Turbo in order, stranding Brian at first, and ending the game with Guacamol-yay winning 6-3.

The win moved Guacamol-yay to 7-11 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 8-10.

Kyle Outslugs Jason to Lead Guacamol-yay to 4-3 Win Over Shady Characters

In what was essentially a one-on-one contest, or as much of a one-on-one contest as can happen in the EWL, Kyle had one more homer than Jason, and it was the difference in a tightly fought game between Guacamol-yay and Shady Characters. Kyle went 3-for-3 with three home runs, three runs scored, and four RBI, contributing three of the four Guacamol-yay hits in the win. Jason went 3-for-4 with a double, two homers, and scored all three of Shady Characters runs in the 4-3 loss.

Josh K took the mound for Guacamol-yay, and after allowing a one-out single to Mike in the top of the first, he retired Tom K to strand him, ending the inning.

Shady Characters pulled ahead in the top of the fifth. Jason led off the inning with a solo homer, his second of the game, giving Shady Characters a 3-2 lead. Lucas followed with a single, but Josh stranded him, retiring Dylan and Mike to end the inning.

Down 3-2, Guacamol-yay rallied in the bottom of the fifth. Ryan led off with a single, and Kyle followed with his third homer in as many at-bats, a three-run shot that put Guacamol-yay ahead 4-3. Tom retired JOsh and Jude to end the inning, and Shady Characters were down by a run heading into the sixth.

Josh remained on the mound to close things out for Guacamol-yay, and he made quick work of Shady Characters in the top of the sixth. He retired Tom, and then faced Jason with the game on the line. Jason had went 3-for-3 and toe-to-toe with Kyle and Guacamol-yay, but rather than walking him, Guacamol-yay pitched to him. The strategy worked, as Jason was retired for the first time in the game, ending the game and giving Guacamol-yay a 4-3 win.

The win moved Guacamol-yay to 6-11 on the season, and the loss dropped Shady Characters to 12-5.
