Cookies & Cream and the Ham Slams combined for 5 hits and only 1 run as Joey and Charlie battled in the season’s best pitcher’s duel, but the only run belonged to Cookies & Cream in a 1-0 win.

The Ham Slams sent their ace, Charlie, to the mound against Cookies & Cream, and he got off to a strong start. Joey doubled with one out, but Charlie stranded him at first for a scoreless top of the first.

With staff ace Guthrie out for the week, Joey started on the mound for the Cookies & Cream. He gave up a leadoff single to Anthony, who moved to second on an Evan groundout. But the runner was stranded at second, as Josh grounded out to center to end the inning.

Charlie pitched a perfect top of the second, and Joey matched up, retiring the Ham Slams in order in the bottom half of the inning.

Cookies & Cream finally got to Charlie in the top of the third. Joey grounded out to lead off the inning, but the next batter, Blose, slammed a one-out solo homer, giving Cookies & Cream a 1-0 lead. Charlie then retired Dinger for the second out of the inning.

Joey cruised through the bottom of the third, retiring the side in order.

Charlie retired Vassallo for the first out of the top of the fourth, and Joey followed with a one-out double. But Charlie stranded him at second, getting Blose to ground out for the second out of the inning.

The Ham Slams were unable to tie the game, as Josh and Steve were retired consecutively in the bottom of the fourth.

Charlie pitched a perfect frame in the top of the fifth. With one out in the bottom of the fifth, Anthony doubled for his second hit of the game. But the Ham Slams couldn’t advance him, as Joey retired Evan to end the inning.

Cookies & Cream couldn’t add to their lead in the top of the sixth, as Charlie retired the side in order. But Joey didn’t need the run support, as he retired Josh and Steve in the bottom of the sixth, giving Cookies & Cream the 1-0 win.

Cookies & Cream moved to 6-2 with the win, as the Ham Slams fell to 3-5 on the year.
