In what may be the last game of an illustrious wiffle career, Steve went 3-for-5 with a single, a double, and a two-run homer to help lead the Porkswords to victory.

The Porkswords and Cheap Goats were tied at 3-3 after seven innings, with both teams going four consecutive innings without scoring, when the matchup was postponed due to darkness. When the game was resumed in the eighth two weeks later (due to a rain delayed week), the Porkswords scored four runs in the top half of the inning, and the Cheap Goats couldn’t match them. Josh led the Porkswords with three hits, and his triple to lead off the top of the eighth sparked the rally that led to the victory.

Christian took the mound for Cheap Goats, and after allowing a one-out double to Stove in the top of the first, he retired Savage Love to end the inning.

The Porkswords bounced back in the top of the second. Adam led off the inning with a solo homer, making the score 2-1. He retired Christian and Dinger to strand both runners, ending the inning and preserving the Porkswords one run lead.

Christian had met his innings limit, and Cheap Goats turned to Dinger from the bullpen in the top of the third. He retired the side in order, sending Josh and Steve down consecutively.

Cheap Goats would even things up in the bottom of the third. With one out, Jordan hit a solo homer to left-center, tying the game at 3-3. Adam then retired Joey to end the inning.

Dinger continued to roll in the top of the fourth, pitching his second consecutive perfect frame. Adam matched him in the bottom of the fourth, sending Christian and Dinger down in order.

Cheap Goats needed only a run to win the game, but they didn’t threaten in the bottom of the sixth, as Joey and Christian were both retired by Adam, sending the game to extra innings.

As darkness settled in, the Porkswords went in order in the top of the seventh. Dinger retired Savage and Adam in order, and Cheap Goats had another chance to walk off with a win.

Adam continued to pitch effectively in the bottom half of the inning, retiring Dinger and Bob, and the game remained tied at 3-3 through seven innings.

The game was postponed due to darkness, and was scheduled to be resumed to begin week 6. Week 6 was postponed entirely due to rain, so the game picked up two weeks later in the top of the eighth.

John’s RBI double in the top of the eight plated the first of four runs in the extra frame.

The Porkswords came back from the two week layoff swinging hot bats, and they took advantage of multiple fielding errors on the part of Cheap Goats. Josh led off the resumed game with a triple, and John, who had substituted for Steve, drove him in with an RBI double that put the Porkswords ahead 4-3. Adam then doubled, scoring John to make the score 5-3. Savage followed with another double, scoring Adam, and the Porkswords led 6-3. Josh got his second hit of the inning, an RBI single that scored Savage, and the Porkswords had scored four consecutive runs to take a 7-3 lead. Dinger finally escaped the inning, retiring John and Adam, and Cheap Goats would need four runs in the bottom of the eighth to extend the game.

Jordan doubled for the third time in the game to lead off the bottom of the inning, and two batters later, Christian hit an RBI single to score him, cutting the deficit to 7-4. But the Cheap Goats rally would end there, as Adam retired Dinger for the second out of the inning, ending the game and giving the Porkswords the 7-4 extra-innings victory.

The win moved the Porkswords to .500 at 5-5 on the year, and the loss dropped Cheap Goats to last place in the EWL standings at 4-6.
