Dustin Leads Jack Shack to First Round Sweep of Guacamol-yay with 5-2 Win in Game 3

Dustin went a perfect 4-for-4 with two singles, a double, a triple, and three runs, leading Jack Shack back to the Wiffle Series for the second consecutive season

Dustin continued his hot start to the playoffs, going 4-for-4 with two singles, a double, a triple, and three runs scored, leading Jack Shack to a 5-2 win in game 3. Brian pitched the complete game win, scattering two runs on seven hits, his second consecutive strong performance in the 2020 postseason. The Jack Shack franchise has now swept all three series they have appeared in and have a perfect 10-0 franchise record in the EWL playoffs.

Josh K took the mound for Guacamol-yay in the elimination game, and he fell behind early. Brian led off the top of the first with a double, and Dustin drove him in with an RBI triple, making the score 1-0. Two batters later, Doc hit an RBI double to right-center, scoring Dustin to put Jack Shack ahead 2-0. Josh K retired Blaine to strand Doc at second, ending the inning.

Jan led off the bottom of the first with a double off Jack Shack’s starter, Brian, but Guacamol-yay couldn’t capitalize. Brian retired Josh K and Jude to strand Jan at second, and the score remained 2-0.

Dustin singled with one out in the top of the second, and he scored from first when Turbo followed with an RBI single, extending the Jack Shack lead to 3-0. Josh K struck out Doc to end the inning.

Josh K matched him in the top of the third, retiring Blaine and Brian, and Guacamol-yay continued to trail by three runs.

Guacamol-yay got on the board in the bottom of the third. Josh K doubled to start the inning, and two batters later, Ryan hit a one-out RBI double to score Josh K, cutting the deficit to 3-1. Brian then retired Jan to strand Ryan at second, ending the inning.

Jack Shack made up the different in the top of the fourth. Dustin singled, and he advanced to second when Turbo grounded out to center for the first out of the inning. Doc hit another double off the fence, and Dustin scored on the play, putting Jack Shack in front 4-1. Blaine followed with a single, scoring Doc, and the lead was 5-1. Josh K then retired Brian to end the inning.

Josh K doubled to start the bottom of the fourth, and Jude followed with a single, putting two runners on with no outs. Ryan followed with a sacrifice fly to center, moving Josh K to third and Ryan to second. Guacamol-yay couldn’t take advantage of the runners in scoring position, however, as Brian retired Jude to strand both runners, ending the inning and maintaining the four-run Jack Shack lead.

Dustin doubled to lead off the top of the fifth, but he was caught in between second and third when Turbo grounded out, and the double play ended the inning.

Josh K doubled for his third consecutive at-bat to start the bottom of the fifth, and he scored from second when Jude followed with a sacrifice fly. Brian then retired Ryan to end the inning with the score 5-2.

Josh K fanned Doc to start the top of the sixth, and then retired Brian for the second out, as Guacamol-yay trailed by three runs heading into their final at-bat of the game.

Brian remained on the mound to close things out for Jack Shack. He retired the first batter he faced, Jan. Josh K, the last hope for Guacamol-yay, tripled, but he was caught out trying to extend the hit into an inside-the-park home run. The out ended the game and the series, as Jack Shack sealed a first round sweep with a 5-2 win in game 3 and a 3-0 win in the best-of-five series.

Dustin of Jack Shack Voted Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week for Week 1 of the 2020 Playoffs

For the second season in a row, Dustin lit up the first week of the playoffs, collecting seven extra-base hits in two Jack Shack wins.

After an impressive offensive performance leading his team to a 2-0 advantage in their first round playoff series, Dustin of Jack Shack was voted Wiffler of the Week for week 1 of the EWL playoffs for the second consecutive postseason.

Dustin, who took over for Josh D as captain of Jack Shack in 2020, helped the defending champs get to the brink of a second consecutive Wiffle Series berth with a dominant performance at the plate and a strong effort on the mound and in the field.

In a 13-2 win in game 1 of Jack Shack’s best-of-five series with Guacamol-yay, Dustin went 5-for-5 with two doubles, three home runs, five runs scored, and five RBI.

In a 6-4 win in game of the series, Dustin went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs scored, and two RBI. He also earned the win on the mound, allowing three runs on five hits in five innings.

In total, Dustin went 7-for-9 with two doubles, two triples, three home runs, seven runs scored, seven RBI, and a win.

This is the second time this season that Dustin has been voted Wiffler of the Week, the second time in his postseason career to be honored, and the fourth time in his career in total.

Jack Shack Push Guacamol-yay to the Brink with 6-4 Win in Game 2

Brian led Jack Shack to another playoff victory, going 3-for-4 with a double, two triples, and two runs scored. He also earned the save on the mound.

The Jack Shack franchise had never lost a playoff game coming into game 2 of their first-round series against Guacamol-yay, and that streak continued, as they won 6-4, taking a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five first round series. Brian and Turbo each had three hits, and Dustin earned the win and had two extra-base hits, as Jack Shack moved one game closer to a repeat trip to the Wiffle Series.

Matt led off the top of the first with a single off Dustin, Jack Shack’s starter, but Guacamol-yay couldn’t get on the board. Dustin retired Jan and Josh K, stranding the runner at first, and ending the inning.

For the second consecutive game in the series, Jack Shack jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first. Brian led off the inning with a triple, and Dustin drove him in with an RBI triple, making the score 1-0. Turbo followed with an RBI single, scoring Dustin, and the Jack Shack lead was 2-0. Two batters later, Blaine hit a one-out triple, scoring Turbo, and the lead was 3-0. Josh K retired Brian to get out of the inning, stranding Blaine at third.

Guacamol-yay bounced back immediately in the top of the second. Ryan started the inning with a double, and two batters later, Jan hit an RBI single to score him, putting Guacamol-yay on the board. Josh K doubled, and Jan scored from first on the play, cutting the deficit to 3-2. Ryan then tripled, scoring Josh K, and Guacamol-yay had drawn even at 3-3. Dustin retired Matt for the second out of the inning, but the three-run lead had been squandered, and the game was tied.

Two batters later, with one out, Jan tripled, scoring Ryan to cut the score to 6-4. Guacamol-yay had a runner on third and the tying run at the plate, but the rally would end there. Brian retired Josh K to strand Jan at third, ending the game and giving Jack Shack the 6-4 victory in game 2.

The win gave Jack Shack a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five first round series, one win away from advancing to the Wiffle Series for the second consecutive postseason.

Dinger’s Walk-Off RBI Single Gives Cheap Goats 3-2 Extra-Innings Game 2 Victory

Dinger pitched the complete game win for Cheap Goats, and his RBI single in the bottom of the seventh drove in the winning run, as Cheap Goats took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series

After a hard fought game 1, Cheap Goats and Shady Characters battled even more in game 2, going to extra innings before Cheap Goats walked off with a 3-2 win in the bottom of the seventh. Dinger and Sam were both effective on the mound, both defenses rose to the occasion, and after Shady Characters even things up in the sixth, Cheap Goats rallied in the seventh to win the game and take a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series. Brett and Dinger were the only Cheap Goats with multiple hits, as Brett went 2-for-4 with two triples, and Dinger went 2-for-4 with two singles, also pitching the complete game win.

Dinger took the mound for Cheap Goats in game 2, and after allowing a one-out single to Mike in the top of the first, he retired Sam to strand him, ending the inning.

Sam started for Shady Characters, and after Joey doubled with one out in the bottom of the first, Jordan was retired to strand the runner, and the game was scoreless through an inning.

For the second consecutive game, Shady Characters took an early lead. Tom K led off the top of the second with a solo homer, putting Shady Characters in front 1-0. Two batters later, Dylan hit a one-out double, but Shady Characters couldn’t extend the lead. Dinger retired Mike to strand Dylan at second, ending the inning.

Tom K doubled with one out in the top of the third, but Dinger stranded another Shady Characters runner, as Lucas was retired to end the inning.

Sam continued to pitch well in the bottom of the third, sending Brett and Joey down consecutively, and Shady Characters led 1-0 halfway through game 2.

Dylan singled to start the top of the fourth, but Dinger escaped without damage, retiring Mike and Sam to end the inning.

Cheap Goats got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, pulling ahead. Jordan doubled to start the inning, and two batters later, Dinger hit an RBI single, scoring Jordan to tie the game at 1-1. Brett followed with an RBI triple, scoring Dinger, and Cheap Goats led 2-1. Sam then retired Joey to strand Brett at third, ending the inning.

Shady Characters trailed by a run heading into the sixth inning. Dylan led off the inning with a single, and he moved from first to third when Mike followed with a single. Shady Characters had the tying runner in scoring position and the go-ahead run on first. The next batter, Sam, flew out to right. Dylan tagged and scored on the play, tying the game at 2-2. Mike also advanced to third on the play, and Tom K came to the plate with the go-ahead run in scoring position. However, Dinger cracked down, retiring Tom K, stranding the runner at third, and the game was tied at 2-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth.

Sam retired the first batter he faced, Dinger, and he was an out away from sending the game to extra innings. The next batter, Brett, tripled, and Cheap Goats had the winning run on third with Joey coming to the plate. Shady Characters intentionally walked Joey, putting runners on first and second with one out. Sam would have to retire Jordan to extend the game, and he did, getting him to fly out to deep left, stranding both runners and forcing extra innings.

Dinger remained on the mound for Cheap Goats in the seventh. The first batter he faced, Lucas, tripled off the fence, and Shady Characters had the go-ahead run on third with no outs. Shady Characters would essentially only have to put the ball in play to take a 3-2 lead, but Dinger worked some magic. He struck out Dylan, who had attempted to bunt to squeeze in the run from third, for the first out of the inning. Shady Characters most dangerous hitter, Mike, came to the plate, but Dinger once again got out of trouble. He got Mike to ground out to center, stranding the runner at third, and the game remained tied at 2-2.

Christian, who was hitless in the game, led off the bottom of the seventh with a double, putting the winning run in scoring position with no outs. The next batter, Dinger, hit a high fly ball into the tree in left. Christian ran through the stop sign at third and to the plate. The throw from the outfield sailed, and Christian crossed the plate for the winning run, giving Cheap Goats the 3-2 victory in game 2.

Turbo continued his strong 2020 season into the playoffs, going 5-for-5 and hitting for the cycle, helping to lead Jack Shack to a game 1 win over Guacamol-yay

Defending Wiffle Series champions Jack Shack swept through the 2019 playoffs, winning their first round series and the Wiffle Series without dropping a game. They started their 2020 title defense in impressive fashion, blitzing Guacamol-yay 13-2 in game 1 behind monster games from Dustin, Turbo, and Brian, who also allowed only three hits in the complete game win. Dustin and Turbo each went 5-for-5, as Dustin crushed three homers, and Turbo hit for the cycle. Guacamol-yay played without two of their key cogs on offense, and it showed, as they were never in game 1, and Brian retired the last nine batters he faced to close out an easy victory.

Jack Shack got out their sticks in the bottom of the first, taking a huge lead immediately. Brian led off the inning with a double, and Dustin followed with a double, putting runners on second and third. Turbo doubled, scoring Brian to put Jack Shack on the board at 1-0. Josh K, the Guacamol-yay starter, retired Doc for the first out of the inning, but Dustin scored on the play, giving Jack Shack a 2-0 lead. Blaine followed with a single, scoring Turbo, and the score was 3-0. Jack Shack’s next three batters turned the fireworks on. Brian hit a two-run homer, driving in Blaine, and Jack Shack led 5-0. Dustin followed with a mammoth solo shot, extending the lead to 6-0. Turbo made it back-to-back-to-back jacks for the Shack, and Guacamol-yay trailed 7-0. Josh K finally escaped the inning, retiring Doc, but Jack Shack had taken a commanding lead one inning into the game.

Guacamol-yay showed some spirit in the top of the second. Josh K doubled, and Ryan drove him in with an RBI double, cutting the score to 7-1. Matt followed with his first career hit, an RBI single that scored Ryan, and Guacamol-yay looked poised for a rally. Unfortunately, Matt’s single would be the last hit that Guacamol-yay registered in the entire game. Brian retired Jan and Josh K, ending the inning, and Jack Shack led by five.

Brian remained on the game to close things out, and he made it easy in the top of the sixth. He sent Jan and Josh K down in order, the eighth and ninth consecutive batters he retired, and Jack Shack had won game 1 by the score of 13-2.

Brian was in control on the mound, pitching the complete game win while allowing only three hits, all of which came in the second inning.

The win gave Jack Shack a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five first round series.
