Guac Boys Hold Off Late Cheap Goats Rally in 6-4 Victory to Remain Tied For First

Alec went 3-for-3 and the Guac Boys did just enough on defense to hold off a late Cheap Goats rally in a 6-4 victory. Guac Boys led 6-1 heading into the sixth inning before allowing three runs with the tying run at the plate, but ultimately escaped with a win to remain tied for first in the season standings through three weeks. Joey went 6-for-6 in the loss, and Cheap Goats fell into a tie for last in the standings with Jack Shack.

Bohn started for Guac Boys, and he allowed a lead off single to Joey. Two batters later, Christian hit a one-out single to put runners on the corners, but Bohn escaped the inning unscathed, retiring Dinger to strand both runners, ending the inning.

Christian started for Cheap Goats, and he allowed Form to double to start the bottom of the first. Two batters later, Alec hit a two-run shot, putting Guac Boys ahead 2-0. Jan singled, but Christian stranded him, retiring Tone to end the inning, and Cheap Goats trailed by two runs.

Form went 2-for-4 with a single, a double, a run scored, and an RBI in Guac Boys 6-4 win over Cheap Goats

Joey led off the top of the second with a solo homer, cutting the Guac Boys lead in half at 2-1. Courtlen tripled, but Cheap Goats couldn’t tie the score. Bohn retired Christian and Dinger to end the inning, and Guac Boys led by a run.

Christian rolled through the bottom of the second, retiring Brum and Form in order.

Bohn had reached his innings limit for the week, and Guac Boys brought Jan to the mound in relief. Joey singled to start the top of the third, but he was doubled up when Christian grounded out to the mound, ending the inning.

Guac Boys extended their lead in the bottom of the third. Bohn led off with a triple, and Alec plated him with an RBI double, putting Guac Boys in front 3-1. Two batters later, with one out, Tone hit a two-run shot, and Guac Boys led 5-1. Brum singled, but Christian avoided further damage, retiring Form to strand the runner, and Cheap Goats trailed by four runs.

Jan continued to roll in the top of the fourth, retiring Christian and Dinger in order.

Alec hit a one-out single in the bottom of the fourth, but Christian stranded him, retiring Jan to end the inning, and Guac Boys continued to lead 5-1.

Joey doubled to start the top of the fifth, but Guac Boys continued to strand Cheap Goats runners. Jan retired Courtlen and Christian, stranding the runner at second, and the Guac Boys lead remained four runs.

Brum doubled with one out in the bottom of the fifth, and Form followed with an RBI single, pushing the Guac Boys lead to 6-1. Christian retired Bohn to end the inning, and Cheap Goats were down five runs heading into the top of the sixth.

Cheap Goats showed life in the sixth. Dinger singled, and Joey followed with a two-run homer, cutting the deficit to 6-3. Courtlen singled, and two batters later, Dinger hit a one-out single to put runners on the corners with one out. Joey hit an RBI double, scoring Courtlen, and Cheap Goats had narrowed the Guac Boys lead to 6-4. Cheap Goats had two runners in scoring position and the tying run at the plate, but Jan buckled down. He retired Christian for the second out, stranding two runners, and giving Guac Boys a 6-4 win.

The win moved Guac Boys to 5-1 on the season, and the loss dropped Cheap Goat to 1-5.

Thomas Goes Deep Three Times to Lift Shady Characters to 5-2 Win Over Jack Shack

Thomas went three-for-three with three solo homers, providing all of the run support Shady Characters would need in a 5-2 win over Jack Shack

Thomas continued the hot start to his rookie campaign, going 3-for-3 with solo homers in each of his three at-bats, leading Shady Characters to a 5-2 in over Jack Shack. Tom and Lucas combined to pitch effectively on the mound, scattering only two runs on seven hits, as Shady Characters remained at the top of the season standings.

Jon D took the mound for Jack Shack, and after allowing a lead off double to Tom, he got Nate to ground out to the mound. Tom was caught in between bases on the play, concluding in a double play that ended the inning.

Tom started for Shady Characters, and he retired Josh and Jon M in order in the bottom of the second.

Jon retired Lucas to start the top of the second, but Thomas followed with a solo homer, putting Shady Characters in front 1-0. Jon then retired Daniel to end the inning.

All three Jack Shack players had singled, but Shady Characters recorded two outfield assists to end the inning, and the score remained 4-1.

Shady Characters added an insurance run in the top of the sixth. Jon retired Lucas for the first out, but Thomas followed with third homer in as many at-bats, a solo shot that gave Shady Characters a 5-1 lead. Jon then retired Daniel to end the inning, and Jack Shack trailed by four runs heading into the bottom of the sixth.

Jon D started the bottom of the sixth with a triple, and two batters later, Josh hit a one out single to score him, cutting the deficit to 5-2. The rally would end there, however. Lucas retired Jon M to strand Josh at first, ending the inning and the game, giving Shady Characters a 5-2 win.

Guac Boys Hand Shady Characters First Loss of 2024 Season with 11-8 Victory

Form, Bohn, and Alec each delivered three hits as Guac Boys went up early on Shady Characters and held off a late rally, giving the defending champs their first loss of the season. Guac Boys took a 10-3 lead and held on to win 11-8, pulling even with Shady Characters atop the season standings.

Bohn started on the mound for Guac Boys, and he allowed singles to Tom and Nate to start the game. After retiring Lucas, he allowed another single to Thomas, and Tom scored on the play, putting Shady Characters ahead 1-0. Shady Characters had two runners on with one out, but Bohn escaped the inning, retiring Daniel for the second out, stranding both runners.

Tom took the mound for Shady Characters and he allowed a lead off triple to Form. Bohn then doubled, scoring Form, and the game was tied at 1-1. Alec doubled, scoring Bohn, and Guac Boys led 2-1. Tom retired Jan and Tone to strand Alec at second, ending the inning, and Shady Characters trailed by a run.

Justin singled in his first career at-bat to lead off the top of the second, but Bohn stranded him. He retired Tom and then struck out Nate to end the inning, and the score remained 2-1.

Shady Characters had two runners on with one out, but Bohn retired Justin to strand both runners, ending the inning.

Jack Shack’s two Jons went a combined 7-for-8 with four home runs to deliver the squad their first win of the 2024 season in a 10–8 win over Cheap Goats. Despite trailing 6-1, Jack Shack outscored Cheap Goats 9-2 down the stretch to earn the victory.

Ryan took the mound for Jack Shack, and after retiring Joey to start the game, he allowed a solo homer to Courtlen, making the score 1-0. Christian followed with a double, but Ryan stranded him, retiring Dinger for the second out of the inning.

Dinger started for Cheap Goats, and after retiring Josh to start the bottom of the first, he gave up a solo homer to Jon M, tying the score at 1-1. Dinger then retired Jacob to end the inning, and the game was tied.

Nate of Shady Characters Named Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week

In one of the quietest offensive weeks in recent league history offenses were stifled, defenses were on point, and the ball wasn’t flying around the Wiffle Diamond, but Nate delivered the best performance of the week, leading Shady Characters to two victories, and he was voted Pabst Blue Ribbon Wiffler of the Week for week 2 of the 2024 season.

In a 3-0 win over Jack Shack, Nate was a perfect 3-for-3 with a single, two homers, two runs scored, and three RBI.

In a 12-4 win over Cheap Goats, Nate went 3-for-5 with two singles, a home run, three runs scored, and four RBI.

In total, Nate went 6-for-8 with three singles, three home runs, five runs scored, and seven RBI in two week 2 victories, helping to keep Shady Characters undefeated at 4-0.

This is the fourth time in Nate’s career that he has been voted Wiffler of the Week, earning the award once in each of the 2021, 2022, and 2023 seasons.
