Rob Slugs Jack Shack Past Cheap Goats 6-2

Christian delivers a pitch to Rob, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a homer, two runs scored, two RBI, and intentional walk as Jack Shack remained a game ahead of Cheap Goats in the standings.

Rob went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a homer, two runs scored, and an RBI, and became only the second player this season to be intentionally walked, as Jack Shack rolled past Cheap Goats 6-2. Josh and Austin also had three hits each, and Brian pitched the complete game win, allowing only two runs on five hits as Jack Shack continued to stay ahead of Cheap Goats in the season standings.

Christian took the mound for Cheap Goats, and after allowing a leadoff double to Rob, he retired Adam and Josh, stranding Rob at second and ending the inning.

Brian allowed a one-out double to Joey in the bottom of the second, but he stranded him, retiring Guthrie to end the inning.

Jack Shack jumped out to a big early lead in the top of the second. Austin led off with a single and moved to second when Brian followed with a single. Rob then doubled, scoring Austin to put Jack Shack on the board, and the score was 1-0. Two batters later, Josh hit an RBI double, clearing the bases and putting Jack Shack in front 3-0. Austin followed with a two-run bomb, and his homer gave Jack Shack a 5-0 lead. Christian finally escaped the inning, retiring Brian for the second out.

Christian led off the bottom of the second with a solo homer to right, cutting the score to 5-1. Brian retired the next two batters, Dinger and Rairigh, to end the inning.

Rob led off the top of the third with a solo homer to right-center, extending the Jack Shack lead to 6-1. Christian retired Adam for the first out, and when Josh followed with a single, he was caught trying to extend the hit into a double, ending the inning.

Guthrie doubled with one out in the bottom of the third, but Cheap Goats couldn’t plate him. Brian retired Christian to strand Guthrie at second, ending the inning.

Christian rolled through the top of the fourth, retiring Austin and Brian in order.

Brian matched him in the bottom of the fourth, striking out Dinger and retiring Rairigh for the second out.

Brian pitched the complete game win for Jack Shack, allowing only two runs on five hits and striking out one.

Christian once again pitched a scoreless frame in the top of the fifth, sending Rob and Adam down consecutively.

Joey led off the bottom of the fifth with an inside-the-park homer fueled by Jack Shack throwing errors, and the score was 6-2. Brian retired the next two batters, Guthrie and Christian, ending the inning.

Josh led off the top of the sixth with a single and moved to second when Austin followed with a single. Christian got Brian to ground out to the center for the first out of the inning, which moved both runners into scoring position. Christian and Cheap Goats elected to intentionally walk Rob to load the bases, and it paid off. Christian got Adam to fly out to right for the second out of the inning, stranding all three runners.

Josh went 3-for-4 with two singles, a double, a run scored, and two RBI.

Dinger led off the bottom of the sixth with a double, but he was caught out trying to extend the hit into a triple. Brian then shut things down by retiring Rairigh, ending the game and giving Jack Shack the 6-2 win.

The win moved Jack Shack to 5-9, and the loss dropped Cheap Goats to 4-10.

Dylan, Mike, and Tom combine for six homers in Shady Characters 8-4 Win Over Guac Boys

Tom, who had two long balls in the Shady Characters win, congratulates Dylan at the plate after one of his two bombs.

Dylan, Mike, and Tom, the first three hitters in Shady Characters’ batting order, went deep twice each and a combined six times, scoring seven of Shady Characters eight runs as they pulled away late to beat the Guac Boys. After trailing 4-0, Shady Characters scored eight unanswered runs over the final four innings to pick up the win, moving to 13-1 on the season and clinching the number one seed in the 2022 playoffs.

Tom took the mound for Shady Characters, and he fell behind early. Jared led off with a double, and Austin drove him in with an RBI single, making the score 1-0. Two batters later, Kyle hit an RBI single, scoring Austin to put Guac Boys ahead 2-0. Tom then retired Jared to end the inning, stranding Kyle at first.

Alec started for the Guac Boys, and he retired the side in order in the bottom of the first, sending Dylan and Mike down consecutively.

Alec singled with one out in the top of the second, but Tom stranded him, retiring Kyle to end the inning.

Alec continued to roll in the bottom of the second, retiring Tom and Jason in order.

Lucas came to the mound for Shady Characters in the top of the third. After retiring Jared, he allowed a one-out triple to Austin. Alec followed with a two-run bomb, and the Guac Boys were in front 4-0. Lucas then retired Kyle to end the inning.

Down four runs, Shady Characters started to turn things around in the bottom of the third. Shady Characters would pull ahead in the bottom of the fourth. Dylan led off with a single, and when Mike grounded out for the first out of the inning, Dylan scored, tying the game at 4-4. Tom then hit a solo shot, giving Shady Characters their first lead, 5-4. Jason singled, but Alec stranded him, retiring Lucas for the second out of the inning.

Lucas rolled through the top of the fifth, retiring Kyle and Jared in order.

Shady Characters added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth when Dylan led off the inning with his second homer of the game, a solo blast that made the score 6-4. Mike then homered, extending the lead to 7-4. Tom followed with a solo bomb, and the back-to-back-to-back homers from the top of the lineup, each their second homers of the game, put Shady Characters ahead 8-4. Alec retired Jason, and when Lucas singled with one out, he was caught trying to extend the hit into a double, ending the inning.

Down four, the Guac Boys went quietly in the top of the sixth. Lucas retired Austin and Alec, the fifth and sixth consecutive batters he sent down, ending the inning and the game, giving Shady Characters an 8-4 victory.

The win moved Shady Characters to 13-1 on the season, and the loss dropped the Guac Boys to 6-8.

Dinger’s Walk-Off Double Gives Lifts Cheap Goats in Dramatic 2-1 Win Over Guac Boys

Cheap Goats celebrate after Dinger’s walk-off hit won the game

Cheap Goats and the Guac Boys were scoreless through five innings before the Guac Boys scored one in the top of the sixth, and Cheap Goats walked off with a win in the bottom of the sixth. Down 1-0 with two runners on and one out in the final frame, Dinger cleared the bases with a two-RBI double, giving Cheap Goats the victory. With several players missing for week 7, Cheap Goats signed EWL legends Guthrie and Rairigh to one-week contracts, and both contributed to the win. Rairigh made several important plays in left field, and Guthrie, the most celebrated pitcher in EWL history, pitched the complete game win in his first appearance on the mound in years, allowing one run on three hits.

Guthrie had not pitched in the EWL since 2017 before taking the mound for Cheap Goats in week 7, but he picked up right where he left off. He retired Jared and Austin in order in the top of the first.

Kyle started for the Guac Boys, and he matched Guthrie in the bottom of the first, sending Rairigh and Joey down in order.

Guthrie cruised again in the top of the second, retiring Alec and Kyle.

Guthrie led off the bottom of the second with a double, but when Christian flew out for the first out of the inning, Guthrie was doubled up, ending the inning.

Guthrie once again stymied the Guac Boys in the top of the third, sending Jared and Austin down consecutively.

Kyle continued to match Guthrie in the pitcher’s duel in the bottom of the third, retiring Dinger and Rairigh, and the game was scoreless through three innings.

Kyle went toe-to-toe with Guthrie on the mound, pitching five shutout innings before narrowly losing in the bottom of the sixth

The Guac Boys still couldn’t get to Guthrie in the top of the fourth, as he retired Alec and Kyle in order.

Kyle also rolled in the bottom of the fourth, sending Joey and Guthrie down in order.

Guthrie retired Jared and Austin in order in the top of the fifth, and in his first pitching appearance in five years, he was perfect through five innings.

Christian doubled to lead off the bottom of the fifth, putting the leading run in scoring position, but Kyle buckled down. He retired Dinger and Rairigh, stranding Christian at second, and ending the inning.

With the game scoreless through five innings, the Guac Boys finally broke through in the top of the sixth. Alec led off with a single, breaking Guthrie’s no-hit bid. Kyle then singled, moving Alec to third, and the Guac Boys had runners on first and third with no outs. Jared then doubled, scoring Alec, and after not getting a single hit through five innings, the Guac Boys had strung three together and took a 1-0 lead. The Guac Boys had two more runners on scoring position, but Guthrie ended the rally there. He retired Alec and Kyle to strand both runners, and Cheap Goats trailed 1-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth.

Joey led off the bottom of the sixth with a double, putting the tying run in scoring position. Guthrie then singled, and Cheap Goats had runners on first and third with no outs. Kyle got Christian to ground out to center for the first out of the inning. Down to their final out, Dinger came through in a big way. He launched a high fly ball to left, and Joey and Guthrie raced around to score on the play. The walk-off double ended the game, giving the Cheap Goats a thrilling 2-1 victory.

Tom, Dylan, and Mike Lead Shady Characters to Dominant 12-2 Win Over Jack Shack

Dylan, who went 4-for-5 with a single, two doubles, and a homer, congratulates Mike as he rounds third after his two-run homer in the bottom of the third put Shady Characters up eleven runs.

The first three hitters in Shady Characters’ lineup, Dylan, Mike, and Tom, went a combined 11-for-14 with eight extra-base hits, and all three players went deep as Shady Characters crushed Jack Shack 12-2. Tom pitched the complete game, allowing two runs on six hits, and Shady Characters continued to separate from the rest of the league heading into the thick of the second half of the season.

Tom rolled through the top of the first, retiring Rob and Adam in order.

Jack Shack’s starter, Josh, fell behind early in the bottom of the first. Shady Characters’ first batter, Dylan, went deep, and his third leadoff homer of the 2022 season made the score 1-0. Brian started the top of the third with a double, but when Rob followed with a double, Brian was thrown out trying to score at home for the first out of the inning. Tom then retired Adam, stranding Rob at second, and ending the inning.

Jason doubled, scoring Mike, and the lead was extended to 6-0. Lucas then crushed a three-run shot to right, and Shady Characters had taken a commanding 9-0 lead. Dylan doubled, and Mike drove him in with a two-run bomb, making the score 11-0. Josh finally escaped the inning, retiring Tom for the second out.

Lucas’s three-run homer in the bottom of the third gave Shady Characters a nine-run lead.

Brian doubled with one out in the top of the sixth, and Rob followed with a double, scoring Brian to cut the deficit to 12-2. Tom ended things there though, retiring Adam to strand Rob at second, giving Shady Characters a 12-2 victory.

The win moved Shady Characters to 12-1 on the season, and the loss dropped Jack Shack to 4-9.

Brum Leads Guac Boys to 8-5 Win Over Jack Shack

Brum powered Guac Boys back to .500 on the season with a win over Jack Shack, going 5-for-6 with a single, three doubles, a homer, two runs scored, and five RBI.

Brum went 5-for-6 with a single, three doubles, a home run, two runs scored, and five RBI as the Guac Boys pulled away late to beat Jack Shack 8-5. After trailing through three innings, the Guac Boys, led by Brum’s big stick, scored eight runs over the final three innings to earn the victory. Jude pitched the complete game win and had three hits, Anthony had four hits, and the Guac Boys continued to go blow-for-blow with Jack Shack in the season standings.

Brian started on the mound for Jack Shack, and he retired the Guac Boys in order in the top of the first.

Adam led off the bottom of the first with a triple, and he scored when Austin followed with a sacrifice fly, making the score 1-0. The Guac Boys starter, Jude, then retired Josh to end the inning.

Jude pitched the complete game win for the Guac Boys and also contributed three singles at the plate.

Brum singled to start the top of the second, but Brian stranded him, retiring Alec and Anthony to end the inning.

Brian led off the bottom of the second with a triple, and for the second consecutive inning, Jack Shack utilized a sac fly to score. Adam hit a fly to shallow center, and Brian tagged and scored on the play to put Jack Shack in front 2-0. Brum then retired Austin to end the inning.

Brum doubled with one out in the top of the third, but Brian once again stranded him, retiring Alec to end the inning, and the score remained 2-0.

The Guac Boys pulled ahead in the top of the fourth. Anthony singled, and Jude followed with a single to put runners on first and second with no outs. Brum continued to swing a hot bat, crushing a three-run bomb that put the Guac Boys in front 3-2. Alec doubled, and Anthony drove him in with an RBI single that extended the lead to 4-2. Two batters later, Brum doubled, putting runners on second and third with no outs. Brian had allowed four runs in the inning, but stranded two runners, retiring Alec to end the inning.

Anthony had one of the best games of his wiffle career, going 4-for-7 with four singles, two runs scored, and three RBI in the Guac Boys win.

Austin tripled with one out in the bottom of the fourth, but Jack Shack couldn’t plate him. Brum retired Josh for the second out, and the score remained 4-2. 

Austin went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple in the Jack Shack loss.

Jude singled with one out in the top of the fifth, but Brian stranded him, retiring Brum to end the inning.
